Hello from Romanian country side 2 Years, 5 Months ago

Hello all. Sorry I can't post in Romanian--I'm learning. I am married to a Scotsman (am American) and lived in the UK a while and now we are in a small town in Romania about 100 km from Timisoara. We regularly take trips back to the UK. We are doing humanitarian work here. The people are fantastic, the conditions can be difficult. We spent some time in Bucuresti and now are adjusting to rural life. I would like to be in contact with anyone who might be interested in hearing more about what we are doing here. Oh yes, Happy Spring! (The weather here today is terrible! Had been really nice a few days ago. I'm sure it will eventually warm up!)

We do activities with poor children that are character building and Christian in nature. We use games, songs (with guitar) coloring activities--you name it. Sometimes we organize excursions which include visiting a recreational or educational place and we take care of the food, etc. We collect supplies such as food and clothes, etc. to distribute to the needy. We also do youth counseling and we have students visit us regularly. We do anti-drug counseling and have worked with local police with this. We also have done activities with the elderly, etc. etc. As you can see we are pretty versitile and open to whatever the need is. I was over one year in Bucuresti and only a few weeks here, so am just finding my feet, so to speak, as far as what the local need is.

in otelu rosu ? if spelt right there are a lot of single mothers and the parents are working abroad particularly the fathers. the need being money and an escape route. i guess you have just about got there on that one. the town is nice the people are too, but given what you said you are trying to do i feel you could be ripped off are you sure you have all angles covered? there are so many deserving cases in romania, and there are a lot who are not but appear to be from the western eye. i am really curious to your motives and funding and how you allocate you resources? as well as that i wish you luck and success, but i would be more sceptical than i see from your posts to date. let me know a bit more i may be able to help some. and yes it will be cold until around end of march
