Hospice of Hope Romania – Who are we?
Hospice of Hope Romania is a UK charity that has been pioneering care for the terminally ill and their families, throughout Romania. We established Hospice Casa Sperantei based in Brasov, in 1992, and working with them, the charity has consistently delivered services to improve the quality of life for the Romanian people. In 1997 we opened a purpose-built Hospice Education Centre in the city, and in 2002 we opened Romania’s first adult and child in-patient teaching Hospice. To further our aims in developing our work throughout Romania, in 2004 we opened a National Hospice Training and Resource Centre based in Bucharest.
What can we do for you?
We currently have the opportunity to offer inexpensive accommodation in our Resource Centre in Bucharest, our Education Centre in Brasov and also in 4 apartments in Casa Marina Villa in the premier ski resort of Poiana Brasov. We can arrange transfers to and from our accommodation from Otopeni airport to this accommodation.

Bikes needed for Romania orphans
A Plymouth-based charity is appealing for bicycles which it will send to a Romanian orphanage.
The Rainbow Project, set up by Keyham couple Jenny and Keith Scott, supports an orphanage of 120 youngsters and the wider community in the Romanian town of Ilesia. The bicycles are needed by older orphans who use them to commute to school.
The charity is also asking for other items such as clothing, food, toiletries and cleaning products.
Representatives of the charity will be taking donated bicycles and other goods out to Romania in March.
Jenny Scott said: “My husband, Keith, is going to Romania in early March with a 7.5-tonne lorry donated to us by a Cornish company.
“He’s been going for 14 years and we’ve seen wonderful things happen. We’ve got water into schools, and built showers and toilets. Over the last couple of years we’ve put central heating into an orphanage and radiators in another school. We have a different project every year.
“At the moment we’re asking for people to donate anything they can. We especially need all kinds of soaps, disinfectants and non-perishable food.
“We’d like to thank the people of Plymouth for all their support and donations over the years. What we’ve achieved is marvellous and we couldn’t have done it without them.”
Anyone who would like to donate a bicycle or other items, or is interested in volunteering at the Rainbow Project’s city centre shop in the grounds of Central Hall church, can call the charity’s secretary, Martha Smith, on 01752 515585 or Jenny Scott on 01752 509450.
